Europe…

We headed south from Scotland on 8 April 08 and intend on leaving the UK in late May. We have a service for the Mog booked in at Atkinson Vos the Unimog dealers in Lancaster. From there we are headding for Devon to spend some time with our families. The proposed route and the actual route we have taken so far are below.

Map of Europe

After driving across Europe, taking in the sites of Germany including Berlin, Dresden and the lovely countryside surrounding them, we head for Poland. We aim to arrive in the Ukraine around the end of June.

Then we head south again through Moldova and into Romania. Turning right, we then plan to spend time exploring Transylvania and on through Hungary.

Once in Croatia we head for the coast and some serious rock climbing! A quick jaunt through Slovenia takes us into Northern Italy and from there into France.

We hope to take a ferry from France to Morocco in early September, if we can find one that can cope with the Mog! If not, then it’s on to Spain and a ferry from there!

Africa…Map of Africa

Morocco will be a busy time for us as we have several friends who want to join us for a holiday!

After that the adventure really begins! Heading south to The Gambia we turn inland to Mali where we intend on spending a month rock climbing and chilling out.

Then it’s south again...

The tricky bit is next! Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo and the DRC are all renown for different reasons! Compound this with lorries stuck in four foot deep mud if arriving in the rainy season: I’m sure we’ll be glad of the Mog’s all-wheel-drive and low ratio gears.

We aim to arrive in Angola around May 2009, heading south into Namibia with its famous skeleton coast.

From here the plan gets a bit vague! You can see the proposed route on the map but we think we’ll just make it up as we go along!! Friends and family are hoping to join us in Kenya and Tanzania so we’d better get that far! We also need to think about what to do after Africa… but that’s a whole different adventure!!
