March Update - 28/3/08 ![]()
Well, we now have an actual departure date... yes, I know it's taken forever for us to fix a date but we are leaving Scotland on 11 April. It seems like such a short time ago that we started planning this trip but it's actually been nearly a year! Anyone who knows me will know that this in itself is a major achievement as my attention span is a little over goldfish level!!
The van containing our treasured possessions and donated items to friends and family left this morning and the house looks like a cross between a war zone and a removal company's head office! Still, everything left behind has either already been sold or will go to the charity shop or into the Mog.
We filled up the Mog water tanks at our dear friends Nicky and Grizz's house earlier this week only to discover that the food grade hosepipe had a series of holes along it and looked like a garden sprinkler! So we will need to replace that before leaving the UK. I would like to reiterate our thanks to Nicky and Grizz for their endless patience with supplying us with water - our water supply comes straight out of the river and is not fit for drinking! Anyone wanting a fantastic log home built by Grizz should check out their great website.
We are booked into Atkinson Vos for a full service, MOT, tyre change, cup of Simon's coffee(!) and we will pick up any extra spares we may need for the trip too. We also are having the roof tent fitted on the way south which is exciting.
Oz has been busy fabricating a crockery drawer to stop all the plates rattling about and I will put up a picture of it soon. He has also fitted the cubby box between the cab seats and has installed a funky radio into which we can plug in our MP3 players... and then argue about what to listen to!!
He has also finally finished all the wiring which was a huge job and we now have spotlights on opposing corners which can be switched on from either the back or cab and also better spotlights on the front plus a reversing light.
Our friend Duncan has donated a box full of army rations with goodies like marmalade, margarine, dried milk etc which we will save for emergencies or if we are really missing home and fancy marmalade on toast! Thanks again to Duncan and his brother Andrew for all their help and advice.
